Assemble at the airport and depart for Zurich, the financial metropolis of Switzerland.
Upon your arrival, embark on a walking tour of Zurich. Relish in the sights of the beautiful yet compact city as you take in the splendid architecture and the glittering sight of the turquoise lake. Stroll through the Old Town and drop by Bahnhofstrasse, an exclusive shopping boulevard where you’ll find your favourite luxury brands. Next, visit the must-see FIFA Museum in Zurich and dive into football history at this interactive museum. Admire the original FIFA World CupTM Trophy and explore over 1,000 exclusive exhibits. Thereafter, continue to Lucerne for overnight.
This morning, go on a boat ride on Lake Lucerne to Vitznau. Then, hop on board the cogwheel train to ascend 1,797 metres above sea level to Rigi Kulm, the highest peak of Mount Rigi. Enjoy fantastic views of the Swiss Plateau, the Black Forest, the Vosges Mountains, and the Alps from the Queen of the Mountains. After which, continue your Lucerne city tour. See the Old Chapel Bridge – the oldest wooden bridge in Switzerland, Old Town Lucerne with its unspoiled buildings covered with colourful murals and the Lion Monument. Following that, make your way to Glacier Garden, where you will travel back in time for a glimpse of the glaciers and kettle basins dating from the Ice Age.
Bask in the nature of the Bernese Oberland region with its picture-perfect landscapes accentuated by countless mountain peaks and glistening lakes. Enjoy the morning free at leisure for some shopping or sightseeing at your pleasure. You may wish to take part in an optional sledging activity, where you board a specially designed Snow Bus for a comfortable ride up to Mt. Bussalp. Enjoy marvellous views of the Jungfrau’s snowy peaks as you sledge down the twists and turns of the 7.6km long sledge run; the longest in Europe. Stay overnight in Tasch. Optional: Sledging on Mt. Bussalp
Enjoy the free day exploring the beautiful surrounding mountain region at your own leisure or take the opportunity to try out some of the various sports activities offered in Interlaken. You may wish to take up our recommended optional trip to the “Top of Europe” on Jungfraujoch, where you will be blown away by some of the most amazing views of the alpine wonderland. Optional: Jungfraujoch
Starting at Interlaken, you will first glide along Lake Thun and then through the Simmental Valley to Zweisimmen. From here, the GoldenPass train takes over. This well-known panoramic train in Switzerland whizzes past a range of rivers, clear mountain lakes and waterfalls. Stop off at the glitzy resort village of Gstaad for a brief wander or a meal before re-boarding for the final part of the journey. The trip comes to an end when the train arrives in Montreux, on the shores of Lake Geneva.
The journey from Montreux to Brig begins with a memorable visit to Chillon Castle, a splendid medieval fortress on the water, and learn about its history dating back to the 12th century. Optional: Aletsch Glacier Note: Chillon Castle is closed on every Monday, 25th December, and 1st January.
After breakfast, board the world’s first fully electrified cog railway – the Gornergrat Bahn – which starts from the village centre in Zermatt. Go through verdant forests and lovely meadows as you make your way up to the Gornergrat, where you will have a superb vista of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and other snow-capped peaks rising above 4000m. After which, visit the Matterhorn Museum, a cultural natural museum offering a deeper insight into the history and development of Zermatt.
Get set for an incredible ride onboard the Glacier Express. The ride traverses across the Alps where you can enjoy unbeatable views through your panoramic windows. Feast your eyes upon the phenomenal sight of the Oberalp Pass and Rhine Gorge before arriving at Chur. The oldest city in Switzerland and a car-free mountain city in the heart of the Alps, Chur exudes a romantic charm through its lovely squares and corners, winding streets, alleys, and a lot of history. Journey to Zurich for the night. There will be no Glacier Express trains operating between 24 Oct - 10 Dec 2022. We were on the alpine tour to Switzerland leaving 25/3/ 22. We had great fun and enjoyment , thanks to the great tour manger WANG JIAFU . He was so meticulous in the planning of the trip and also gave us some history of Switzerland . He was so careful that I caught him preparing for our next event while we were busy shopping and eating . His time balances for the public train was superb. He was so kind that when my husband and I wanted to go back hotel earlier he volunteered to take us back by train first while the others were shopping . However we turned down his good offer.I will definitely go with EU holidays for future trips esp when JIAFU leads you will feel so SAFE.
