Assemble at the airport for your
flight to Amman, the capital of
Jordan and a modern city with
numerous ancient ruins.
Note: EK flight: 1 extra night stay for a smooth
transition before starting your itinerary.
When you arrive, drive to visit
Madaba, where you’ll find the
modest St George’s Church and
its extraordinary treasure – a
mosaic map depicting all the
major biblical sites of the Middle
East. Continue to Mt. Nebo, the
hill where the prophet Moses was
said to have been granted a view
of the Promised Land before he
died. Head towards Petra to stay
for the night.
Set off early this morning and get
ready to discover one of the
world’s most breathtaking
ancient cities – Petra, a UNESCO
World Heritage Site and one of
the New 7 Wonders of the World.
Take a short horseback ride to
the entrance of Siq, a narrow
gorge flanked on either side by
high cliffs. Walk through Siq and
hold your breath as you approach
the Treasury, Petra’s most
spectacular monument that is
considered to be one of the most
elegant remnants of the ancient
world. Then drive to Wadi Rum,
the largest wadi in Jordan that
became famous through the
movie ‘Lawrence of Arabia’.
Explore the unique rock
formations of the desert on a
sunset 4WD safari. Tonight,
experience an unforgettable stay
at the foot of the mountains
looming out from the desert
landscape. Gaze at the
shimmering stars in the night sky
as you enjoy the wonderful
hospitality of the Bedouin.
Travel down to the lowest point of
the earth – Dead Sea which sits
over 400m below sea level. Enjoy
free time here to float and swim
in the incredible salt-rich waters.
After breakfast, drive to the
Allenby border and cross over to Israel. Meet your local Israeli guide
and proceed to Masada. Ascend
by cable car and tour the
mountain fortress built by King
Herod, where the Zealots of the
first century made their last stand
against the Romans. Then drive to
Jerusalem and stop along the way
for a view of Jericho and the Mt. of
Temptation. Check in at your
hotel in Jerusalem, where you’ll be
staying for 3 consecutive nights.
Begin the day with a stunning
panorama of the city from the
revered Mount of Olives. Walk
along the Palm Sunday route,
which brings you to the Garden
of Gethsemane at the foot of the
hill, then visit the Church of All
Nations, which enshrines a
section of bedrock where Jesus is
said to have prayed before his
arrest. Move to the Old City and
visit the Western Wall (Wailing
Wall), the holiest site of the
Jewish nation. After lunch, walk
along Via Dolorosa with its
fourteen Stations of the Cross till
you arrive at the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre where Jesus was
crucified and buried, and then
rose again. Walk past Temple
Mount to see the Dome of the
Rock, which is sacred to both
Jews and Muslims.
After breakfast, visit the Israel
Museum, which houses the
model of the city of Jerusalem as
it looked like in 70 AD and the
Shrine of the Book where the
Dead Sea Scrolls are found. Drive
to Bethlehem and visit Manger
Square as well as the Church of
the Nativity where Jesus was
born. (Visit to the Grotto of the
Nativity may be skipped,
especially during pilgrimage
peak season as it may take up to
2-3 hours to enter the cave.) On
the way back to Jerusalem, make
a stop at the Garden Tomb and
drop by the Mahane Yehuda
Market, a prime place to buy
dried produce and local specialty
food.
Depart Jerusalem for Haifa. En
route, stop for a panoramic view
of the Bahai Gardens and the
golden shrine. Drive towards the
Mediterranean Coast to the ancient crusader port city of
Akko, a fascinating UNESCO
World Heritage town with new
excavations that date back 1000
years. Highlights of the old city of
Acre include the beautifully
renovated Knights’ Halls of the
Hospitaller Fortress as well as the
fascinating underground tunnels
and pathways. After lunch, drive
to Nazareth, where you’ll visit the
Basilica of the Annunciation in
Jesus’s hometown. Continue on
to Cana for a brief stop at the
Wedding Church, where Jesus
changed water into wine.
Thereafter, drive to Tiberias for an
overnight stay.
Enjoy a scenic drive to the Mount
of Beatitudes, where Jesus
delivered his Sermon on the
Mount. Proceed to Capernaum
to see the ruins of an ancient
Galilean synagogue, and the
church built over the ruins that
was believed to be the house of
St. Peter. Continue on your
journey to pay a visit to the
Church of the Multiplication and Chapel of Peter’s Primacy.
Thereafter, enjoy a boat ride on
the Sea of Galilee as Jesus and
the Apostles did. Tuck into a
satisfying lunch of St. Peter’s Fish,
before heading on to Golan
Heights. There are wonderful
scenic treasures alongside lovely
nature reserves, as well as historic
and archaeological sites. Stop by
an Olive Oil Factory before
returning to Tiberias for dinner
and some rest.
After breakfast, drive to the
Allenby Border to cross back to
Jordan. Pay a visit to Jerash, an
ancient city reminiscent of the
Roman Empire that is situated in
the foothills of the mountain of
Gilead. Afterwards, go on a
sightseeing tour of the downtown
part of Amman city to transfer to
Amman Airport for your flight
home.
