Assemble at the airport and depart for
Lisbon, Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city.
Arrive at Lisbon airport and make your way
to Évora, a beautifully preserved, medieval
walled town with its roman remains. Join a
city tour of Évora, see the Évora aqueduct
and Chapel of Bones, a fascinating chapel
with a very macabre atmosphere. Enjoy an
idle walk through its historical center to
discover the university town and the
cathedral before stopping for some photos
at the wonderful roman temple.
In the morning, drive to the town of Elvas.
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a
magnificent Aqueduct, which was
constructed by the same man who built the
Tower of Belém, in Lisbon. It is the largest
bulwarked fortification in the world, with
defensive structures shaped like a star.
Today, the fortifications of Elvas are a World
Heritage Site; the Forte de Santa Luzia (17th
century), the Forte da Graça (18th century)
and three small fortifications from the 19th century. The heart of Elvas, the area where
the castle is located, is the oldest part of the
city. From there we make our way to the
Praça da República square, where the old
cathedral is located, and see the Church of
Nossa Senhora da Assunção, we will also
pass by the Domínicas Church, with its
original octagonal floor plan, past the
Manueline pillory and the Torre Fernandina.
Then, we will proceed to Marvão, a
peaceful town on the highest crest of the
Serra de São Mamede, where an
outstanding view of the surrounding region
awaits you. Then, the tour concludes at
Castelo Branco, a charming town in which
you will spend the night in.
Make your way to Monsanto and take a
stroll through the village’s steep and narrow
streets. The entire area is enlivened by
several emblazoned palaces with Manueline
doorways. One of the most notable
buildings amidst all the houses is the
14th-century Torre de Lucano (Lucan’s
Tower), crowned by a replica of a cock’s
clow. The steep climb up to the castle is
rewarded by one of the most breathtaking
views in the whole region. Then, proceed to
Guarda for a guided city tour which includes
the cathedral, the Museum of Guarda and
the rebuilding of the Church of São Vicente
and the Church of Misericórdia.
In the morning, drive up to the city of Braga
Stop en route at the picturesque Amarante
city to see its impressive natural features, its
bridge which perpetuates the memory of
the local population´s heroic resistance
against Napoleon’s troops and the town of
Guimaraes, celebrated for its architectural
style and design.

explore this wonderful city, tour its historic
centre or relive the pilgrimages to Santiago
that would pass through here. Outside the
city, see the Way of the Marian Sanctuaries
or be charmed by the Chordophone
Museum. Then, continue to Porto to
explore Portugal’s second-largest city. Visit
a winery for a wine tasting session.
Afterwards, take a stroll through its streets
and be amazed by the splendid geographical
location on the mouth of the river
Douro. The city is known for its architectural
heritage and was declared a UNESCO
World Heritage Site.
Depart for Lisbon and en route stop at
Aveiro, the capital of the Ria. Aveiro is
intersected by canals filled with brightly
coloured boats known as barcos moliceiros
drifting along at a leisurely pace. Aveiro is
renowned as one of the most interesting
cities on the Portuguese coast. Then move
on to Coimbra, home to one of the very
first universities to be established in Europe
and is therefore considered to be the main
seat of learning in Portugal. Also, another
notable place worth visiting is the Church
of Santa Clara, a richly decorated baroque
church containing the silver tomb of Santa

Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We

alleyways of the Alfama Quarter, the
