Assemble at the airport and depart for Vancouver. Upon arrival, prepare to experience the unique history and unfolding splendour as you tour through the modern streets of Vancouver. Drive through historic neighbourhoods such as Gastown, Chinatown, scenic English Bay and the picturesque Vancouver Harbour. Stop by Stanley Park for a look at the Indigenous Peoples' Totem Poles as well as stunning mountain views. Then, wander through the charming farmer’s market at Granville Island. Afterwards, check in to hotel and rest for the day.
Board a domestic flight to Yellowknife, capital city of the Northwest Territories, to witness the world's greatest nature light show! As dusk arrives, make your way to Aurora Station, which boasts a specially designed sky-deck observatory, as you enjoy watching for the Aurora Borealis in comfort right in the Arctic. Our experienced tour guides will also assist you in taking the best aurora pictures for your keepsake.
Today, get ready for incredible experience – dogsledding through the Boreal Forest with Alaskan husky dogs! Drink in the majestic scenery as you take off on a thrilling ride with your team of dogs through the seemingly untouched wilderness. Afterwards, discover the culture of the Northwest Territories in the beautiful city of Yellowknife as you visit the Legislative Assembly, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, and the Frontier Visitor Centre. Then, go on a scenic drive through downtown and the iconic Old Town to the Pilot's Monument, where you can take in a panoramic view of Yellowknife. After dinner, embark on an exciting drive on Dettah Ice Road (subject to weather conditions), home to the Dene community. Spend 3 to 4 hours watching out for the spectacular Northern Lights on the shoreline of the Great Slave Lake in a cosy wood-stove cabin, where you can tuck into some authentic northern snacks and hot beverages. Enjoy a traditional aboriginal drumming performance as you learn more about the Dene people and their way of life through history, language, and connection to the land. And if Lady Luck is on your side, you’ll have an amazing light show to remember.
After breakfast, enjoy a one-of-a-kind ice fishing experience on Great Slave Lake. Take a half-hour trip in the heated, snow-tracked vehicle to a comfortable fishing hut, then drop your line through several feet of ice to see if you can pull in a big one! Afterwards, enjoy a light fish feast in the cabin on the island. Tonight, you may wish to take up an optional on a thrilling Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) hunt as you move around on snowmobiles through the dark landscape.
Departing for domestic flight to Vancouver with your remarkable Arctic experience under your belt! Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and rest for the day.
Our first schedule of the day is to undergo the requisite PCR test together as a group. Afterwards, set off to discover the natural beauty of Whistler, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Travel from Vancouver to Whistler via the spectacular Sea to Sky Highway. Enjoy coastal views of the glacier fjord Howe Sound, caused by erosion and snow-capped mountains. Soon after, you will arrive at the pedestrian village of Whistler, located at the base of the Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains. Spend an afternoon unwinding at their downtown shops and cafes, or simply soak in the fresh mountain air. Return to Vancouver for the night.
Enjoy a free day for some sightseeing or shopping at your leisure. You may wish to take the opportunity to go on an optional trip to Vancouver Island via BC Ferries, where you will visit the famous Butchart Gardens.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure till it is time to transfer to the airport for your flight home.
