Assemble at the airport and depart for Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital, that sits on the coastal islands of Zealand and Amager.
Upon your arrival, find out why people call it ‘wonderful Copenhagen’ by going on a city tour. Take in the sights of the famous amusement park Tivoli Gardens, the City Hall Square, Hans Christian Andersen Statue, and Christiansborg Palace. Stop by The Little Mermaid sculpture, which was inspired by the fairytale and the mystical Gefion Fountain. If traffic conditions are fair, we will make an additional pit stop at Nyhavn for some picturesque photos. After which, we will visit the Carlsberg for the cophagen exBEERience and explore the heritage site, where J. C. Jacobsen brewed the very first Carlsberg beer.
Leave for Arhus and visit Den Gamle By, a fascinating collection of completely furnished old Danish town houses. Proceed to Skagen, the northernmost point in Denmark and the spot where the Baltic Sea meets the North Sea. Board an overnight cruise that will take you to Bergen, a city on Norway’s southwestern coast. It’s surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the country’s longest and deepest fjord. Note: If the overnight cruise is not available, it will be replaced by a domestic flight to Bergen - Copenhagen and stay an additional night in Copenhagen without extra charges.
Arrive Bergen, a large Norwegian city with a small-town charm. Your exploration begins with a Bergen city tour – soak up the sights and sounds of the bustling Fish Market in the heart of the city; wander along the narrow alleyways and step into the smorgasbord of shops and galleries in Bryggen; and take the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for a fantastic bird’s-eye view of the city. Continue on to the Hardangerfjord region, the second longest fjord in Norway. The Hardangerfjord is 179 km long and greatest depth is 900 meters. The definition of a fjord is a long, narrow inlet from the sea with steep sides or cliffs, created by glacial erosion during the ice age.
Travel to the region of Voss, consider an optional train ride by the Flåm Railway, and embark on the most incredible train journey where you will be treated to endless panoramas of placid rivers, deep ravines, cascading waterfalls, and mountain farms clinging precariously to snow-capped peaks. You will embark on a 2-hour sightseeing cruise within Gudvangen and Flam on the pristine waters of Nærøyfjord and prepare to be blown away by that spectacular vistas displayed before your very eyes. Nærøyfjord, is the world’s narrowest fjord and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Transfer to Skei for an overnight stay.
We will take a scenic sightseeing cruise across the deep blue waters of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, Geirangerfjord. The fjord offers archetypal scenery, encircled by high mountains, where abandoned farms cling to the hillsides. The trip between Geiranger and Hellesylt takes in the Knivsflå Waterfalls, known as the Seven Sisters and Friaren (the Suitor). You will also sail close to the Brudesløret (Bridal Veil) falls. Along the Geirangerfjord, you will experience the very best of Norwegian nature, close up. Drive along Ørnevegen (“the Eagle Road”), a name given to the steepest part of the road up the mountainside from Geiranger to Eidsdal, 620 metres above sea level. Here, the road twists through eleven hairpin bends as it climbs up to Stigrøra, 858 metres above sea level. The road is carved into the mountain and supported by stone walls. An impressive bridge carries the road across the Stigfossen waterfall. On this road, even the bravest can feel the adrenaline pumping through their veins. The Trollstigen platform and two viewpoints are designed by Reiulf Ramstad Architects. From the top, well protected against the elements by steel and glass, you can see all the way down the mountainside. The structure is designed so that it blends in with the surroundings. Some parts are carved into the rock, whilst other parts are built on stone walls. Transfer to Oppland County for a pleasant night in the Norwegian countryside.
Winter sports enthusiasts will rejoice as we head to the site of the 1994 Winter Olympics, Lillehammer. Make a pit stop at the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena for some magnificent photos from the top of the tower, before exploring Lillehammer on your own. After arriving in Oslo, the capital of Norway, you will begin your exploration of the city by visiting the City Hall, which is covered with a rainbow of motifs depicting the Norwegian history, culture and lifestyles, as well as the neo-classical structure of the Royal Palace. Last but not least, the Vigeland Sculpture Park is one attraction that is worth seeing. It is the life’s work of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland, which features more than 200 life-sized sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron.
Take a flight to Reykjavik, Iceland, the country on many traveller’s bucket list. Start off the day with a dip in the amazing Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, famous for its healing mineral-rich waters surrounded by jet-black basalt lava. After reaching the city, start off with the sights of Perlan (The Pearl) – a fantastic dome-shaped glass building supported by six massive water tanks, with an impressive water feature that runs from the basement into the atrium. Then, visit the beautiful Höfði House and the Hallgrímskirkja Church, where you can view the novel exterior of the Lutheran parish church tower along with the statue of Leifur Eiriksson situated at its front.
Today we will cover the Golden Circle, which will allow you to visit some of Iceland’s most stunning sights, starting with the Geysir geothermal area where the Strokkur geyser shoots a column of water up to 30 metres into the air every 4-8 minutes in a thrilling display of nature’s forces. The visit continues with Gullfoss (Golden Falls) Waterfall, created by the river Hvítá, which tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32m deep. This also includes the historical and geological wonder that is Thingvellir National Park, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year.
Enjoy your day at your leisure or choose to join an optional tour to the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, with its enormous and ancient icebergs breaking off from Vatnajökull Glacier, this natural wonder of Iceland is a sight you absolutely cannot miss.
Take a flight to Stockholm, capital of Sweden. Visit the Stockholm City Hall. The three crowns perched atop the 106-metretall tower forms a silhouette that is instantly recognisable within the city. This romantic structure also hosts the prestigious Noble Prize banquets in its Blue and Golden Halls, with the latter featuring 18 million gold mosaic tiles. Continue to the Old Town to view the magnificent structures of the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. Note: Should the main building of Stockholm City Hall be closed for conference, we will only stop for a photo of the exterior.
Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure till it is time to transfer to the airport for your flight home.
We hope you enjoyed your vacation with our company and we look forward to seeing you again for your next trip.
